Our Motto: Expansion not Emigration
Starting in 1995, Iran has faced its third wave of immigration since the 1950s. This third wave, one not caused by immediate social changes unlike the first two waves, is the most significant and sustained wave of emigration of highly talented, educated and economically valuable Iranians. The World Bank estimates the direct cost of this brain drain to stand at $38 billion a year to Iran. It calls for major improvements in innovation and business infrastructure and provision of global growth opportunities.
At Iratel Ventures, we believe, the internet industry, as an open platform, has the potential to reverse this trend, establish a level playing field and help ambitious entrepreneurs and global players build their businesses within Iran, attract global teams and sell locally, regionally and globally. This requires vision, funding and the right professional management from the team and their investors. There have been some amazing infrastructure developments for international travel, tax and employment benefits as well as educational and R&D incentives.
Furthermore, we are continuously expanding our network of VCs, Accelerators, Incubators and Immigration partners in the US, Canada, the UK and China to provide our founders with choice. The choice to compete globally and be the best. We would like to make this choice so abundant and routine that it is regarded as another normal business decision and not a life decision. As a result, our exceptional founders who want to run global businesses, don’t have to leave their loved ones behind.
